DANAWAN




       Danao is a third class city in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2010 census, it has a population of 119,252 people. In 2005, Metro Cebu's definition was expanded to include Danao City, a leader in the gun industry, in the north and the municipalities of San Fernando and Carcar in the south.

                         

   




PLACES TO VISIT






  • Santo Tomas de Villanueva Church
                           
      Built in 1755, Santo Tomas de Villanueva stands as one of the oldest church in the Philippines. Sto. NiƱo and Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in Cebu, Baclayon Church in Bohol, St. James Parish Church in Dapitan, St. Joseph Parish Church in Camotes are just some of the very long list of old churches found in the country. Santo Tomas de Villanueva is situated in Danao City, one of the populated cities in the province of Cebu.











  • St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church
       Has a unique architectural design and along its churchyard is the replica of Gethsemane and the lining of bust of Popes and home for the Aged.












  • Durano-Macapagal Boardwalk 
     Situated along the National Highway in Poblacion with an area of 13, 000 square meter. It is infront of Danao City Police Station and beside Durano-Macapagal Fish Port. A Nice place to stroll along the seawal.












 ·         Danao City Mangrove Boardwalk

     
      The Danao City Mangrove Boardwalk is located at Barangay Guinsay at about 600 meters seaward from Guinsay Barangay Hall. It is a component of Mangrove Timberland Development with an area of approximately 100 hectares. The boardwalk stretches 280 meters from entrance to northward end and crosses at the center of east to west direction that stretches approximately 600 meters to the shoreline to which a proposed cottages for tourist will be established.










  • Danao Marine Sanctuary
      The Danao Marine Sanctuary is located at the northern portion of Danao City. It is located at the Barangay Guinsay at the Barangay Taytay. The core zone stretches approximately 550 meters from sitio Libon of Barangay Guinsay and Taytay, and has a length of 350 meters seaward.












  • Club Filipino de Cebu Golf Course
      An 18-hole golf course situated in barangays Maslog, Sabang, Sandayung Sur, Tuburan Sur and Looc. Golfers enjoy the lush of greens and refreshing breeze on the rolling and valleys while playing.

















 FESTIVAL










                                        Karansa Festival


      The festival is honor to St. Sto. Thomas de Villanueva, the patron saint of Danao City.

      Karansa is a dance festival that shows the joy and happiness through performing the four basic steps, the kikay, karag, kurug and kurahay. In a little way, its adance to be merry and to celebrates – a word from Councilor Carmen “Ivy” Durano-Meca, committee on Tourism Chairperson. It was called Karansa because the people of Brgy. Suba in Danao City, a known for Potters will gather and celebrates for a successful day of work through performing adance. This the proud of Danawanons which remains its cultures and heritage of Danao City.
      Contingents from the city elementary and high school of Danao City will show the highlights of the festival street dancing, showdown competitions and Karansa Festival Queen.
